San Francisco Zoo Although San Bruno may not be technically San Francisco, getting there is a cinch since it’s so close-by. Therefore, the San Francisco Zoo gets dibs at the top of this list; one of the most amazing zoo’s in the country. Prices are very affordable. Generally an adult will pay $15, kids tickets cost $9, seniors tickets will run you $12, and toddlers three and under are admitted absolutely free. There are a ton of exhibits to see with over 250 species of animals that live in the zoo. It’s also close to the beach, so you could very well spend the day at the zoo then head to the Oceanside for a refreshing dip or picnic. Tip: If there’s something in particular you wish to see, call them or check the website to make sure it isn’t undergoing renovation or closed for another reason.
Frontierland Park Frontierland is a beautiful little park is hidden away in the lush surroundings Pacific and offers a wonderful area to spend the day with the family. Wide open areas to run around and play, playground area for kids to climb around on, horseshoe pits, BBQ areas, and more. Very well kept, and catering to families. There’s no loud music allowed, and the ranger closes the parking off early in the evening. (If you plan on being there later than that, park along the road).
San Bruno City Park You don’t even have to leave town to find an amazing, family-friendly park that is perfect for spending the afternoon together… let your child’s imagination soar while they run through the spacious playground pieces. There’s something fun that kids of all ages will find here, from toddlers to teens. The San Bruno City Park is always clean and very inviting, no matter when you visit. They also host a Friday night movie usually in late summer (check with them to see when it will be held this year). If you’re there on a bright summer afternoon, keep your eye out for the ice-cream man. That’s right, your kids may be soon begging for a few bucks to grab an ice cream from a man who comes through the park with ice-cream!
